Lost In A Book

After seeing this tag on Aislings Beauty Bytes blog, I really wanted to do it myself. If you know me, you know I am such a huge bookworm. I love books so you best believe I am going to talk about them!

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
If I'm going to be reading for a few hours, I like to be comfortable so I will just get cozy in bed.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?
I used to have quite a few bookmarks, but they've literally all disappeared! I use a random piece of paper as I cannot stand folded book pages, if you are one of them people; why why why?

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop at a chapter?
No matter what book it is, I have to stop at a chapter. I've never been able to just stop anywhere, it makes me feel really weird so I definitely have to stop at a chapter.

Do you eat or drink whilst reading?
Sometimes I'll have a drink or a snack, but I would never eat a meal whilst reading as I like to keep my books in very good condition - they're like my babies!

E-reader or real book?
Definitely a real book!

Music or TV while reading?
No way, I like to read in complete silence so I can take everything in and just lose myself in the book.

One book at a time or several at once?
One book at a time!

Reading at home or everywhere?
I mostly read at home, but I have read at a local park area near me, and it was really quiet and actually really nice.

Reading aloud or in your head?
In my head, I take it in more.

Fiction or non-fiction?
100% fiction! I've never really read non-fiction apart from when I've had to, like for school or something and I just couldn't get into it.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I never ever skip pages, but I do have a really bad habit of reading the last page of a book and I annoy myself when I do it but I just can't help myself!

Break the spine or keep a book like new?
I like them looking new, but sometimes a little spine breaking is unavoidable.

Do you write in your books?
Never! I feel like I would be ruining them and they're my babies! If I really wanted to, I would leave a post it note instead.

Your favourite book?
I feel like after every good book I read, I always say it's my favourite so it literally changes all the time. If I had to I would say either the Divergent series or It's Kind of a Funny Story.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you do this tag so I can check it out. Thank you for reading!

Love,
Shannon

Things To Do When You're Sad

Getting sad occasionally is normal, in fact I guess in a way it's healthy. Life isn't exactly all sunshine and rainbows and it's okay to feel sad sometimes. However, when you are feeling a bit down in the dumps, it's important to remember that it isn't going to last forever. It may not seem it now, but things will get better because the good (but also scary) thing about life is that everything is temporary.

Listen To Music
Depending on how down I'm feeling, the music I listen to differs. Sometimes I like to listen to sad music because it makes me feel like I'm not alone and I can also relate to the lyrics, whereas sometimes I listen to happy music that can lift me up. There are some great 'Mood' playlists on Spotify which I would recommend looking through!

Read A Book
I love reading no matter how I'm feeling, but it's especially great when you're feeling sad because you can just pick up a book and lose yourself in a world that isn't yours and forget about why you were even feeling sad in the first place.

Take A Walk
It's good to get out of the house when you're not feeling 100%, fresh air is good. I often like to walk to a park area near me listening to music, and then I'll sit on the bench in front of the lake and read, or sometimes I take my camera with me. It doesn't really give me a chance to think about why I'm sad and I just get lost in whatever I'm doing.

Watch A Movie Or TV Show
Watch one of your favourite films or TV shows, anything that makes you feel happy! '10 Things I Hate About You' is my go to movie, it's one of my absolute favourites and it always makes me feel better. If I want to watch a TV show, it will most likely be 'The Vampire Diaries' or 'Friends'.

Dance It Out
Put on some good music and just dance it out. You could do this with a sibling, or a friend, or even just by yourself. It will most likely make you feel better and probably make you laugh too!

Take A Relaxing Bath
Add in a bath bomb if you have one, I recommend one from Lush, or just have a bubble bath. Put on some calming music, or some Netflix and just relax

Lastly, remember that you're bloody amazing and you're doing a great job.

I hope this blog post helped you in some way, thank you for reading!

Love,
Shannon

P.S I'm changing my post day to Sunday as it's just more convenient for me, there may also be mid week posts like this one but I'll always tweet about it! All my social media is down below. Hope you're having a great week so far!

Book Wishlist

Wishlist posts are one of my favourite types of posts to read because I always find something new to add to my own wishlist, although I'm broke so that's probably a bad thing too.. haha. I realized the other day that I've never done a wishlist post before, so ta da, here's a wishlist post.

Four - Veronica Roth
Binge - Tyler Oakley
All The Bright Places - Jennifer Niven
All I Know Now - Carrie Hope Fletcher
Its Kind Of A Funny Story - Ned Vizzini
Let It Snow - John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle

So these are 6 books that are currently on my book wishlist. I'll be doing a few more different types of wishlist posts in the future (like beauty, fashion, etc) so look out for those too!

I hope you enjoyed this little blog post. What books are you loving at the moment? Have you read any of these books? If so, did you like them?

Thank you for reading!

Shannon

October Favourites

Hi!

I had quite a few favourites throughout the month of October, so I thought I'd do a post on them. Before I get into it, can we talk about how it's now November?! It's actually kind of scary how fast this year has gone!

Beauty

My first favourite is the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in the shade 30. It's this gorgeous deep berry colour and I love it. It's so easy to apply and doesn't dry your lips out at all. It's definitely been my go to lipstick during October!

Rimmel Kate Lipstick 30 £5.49

My next favourite is the Makeup Revolution Eye Shadow Palette and it's the palette called Flawless. This palette is amazing! And wait for it - you get 32 shades for £8! What a bargain haha! The shades are so pretty and so wearable, you can create so many different looks with this palette. You get a few matte shades, but the majority of them are shimmery ones, which I love. I'd definitely recommend this!

Revolution Eye Shadow Palette Flawless  £8

My final beauty favourite is the Batiste Dry Shampoo Original. I've never really had dry shampoo, apart from when I was younger, I just used baby powder if I needed to. So I decided to try out this and it's been so useful this month! I don't really know what to say about this haha, it's just dry shampoo isn't it? Very handy to have if you don't already!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Original £2.99

Skincare

My first skincare favourite is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I've always used makeup wipes or baby wipes to take my makeup off, but they really irritate my skin and make me breakout so I picked this up, purely because it was only 99p in Tesco and a lot of people have raved about this. It's so quick and easy to use and it feels so gentle on my skin. It doesn't sting or irritate around your eyes either, which I love. I highly recommend this!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 125ml £1.29

My final skincare favourite is the Simple Kind To Skin Vital Vitamin Day Cream. I really struggle with finding moisturizers that don't irritate my skin, but this one is a dream. It's aimed at people with sensitive skin and it works wonders on my skin. You should definitely try this if you have sensitive skin, or even if you don't!

Simple Day Cream £2.45

Books

My book favourites during October was the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.

Sixteen year-old Tris is forced to make a terrible choice. In a divided society where everyone must conform, Tris does not fit.

So she ventures out alone, determined to discover where she truly belongs. Shocked by her brutal new life, Tris can trust no one. And yet she is drawn to a boy who seems to both threaten and protect her.

The hardest choice lies ahead.  (Divergent blurb)

I've had the first two books, Divergent and Insurgent, since the beginning of the year but I put off reading them for the longest time because I wanted to wait until I got Allegiant. But I watched Divergent for the first time Sunday and I couldn't wait to read them because the film was so good. I picked Allegiant up on Monday and I've read all three of them in less than a week. THEY ARE AMAZING! I won't spoil anything, but the end of Allegiant - Oh. My. God. My. Heart.

Random

My random favourite is the Imperial Leather Fruit Salad Shower Gel. This smells amazing, it's so sweet and I love it! They have a few other scents in their sweets range too that I love - Sherbet Lemon and Marshmallow.

Imperial Leather Fruit Salad Shower Gel £0.85

So that's what I have loved throughout October, what have you been loving recently? Do you like any of the things I've mentioned? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to know :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you for reading!

August Haul | 2015

Hi!

Recently I've bought a few new things (most of them beauty related) and I thought you might like to know what I got.

1. Maybelline New York Dream BB Cream

I find that with my skin I can't really wear foundations so I opted for a BB cream. I've used this a few times since I got it and it is amazing! It honestly feels so nice on my skin and it's so lightweight, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything at all!

I ordered this on feelunique and they're having a sale at the moment, so I got this for £5.94.

2. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

I've seen a lot of people rave about this and I just thought why not? (that is literally my reasoning for everything I buy) It basically just does what it says really, it makes me look more awake and actually human and conceals any spots or blemishes I may have. Overall, it is a really good concealer and I would definitely recommend it!

I also ordered this from feelunique and it was £4.12.

3. Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in the shade 'Lunch Date'

I actually ordered this a few days before Tanya's new products came out (I also really would like to get some of the new ones soon!) and I just really liked this colour so I decided to get it, no fancy reason or anything haha, I just liked it.

This was the final thing I ordered from feelunique and it was £2.80.

4. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in the shade 107.

I tried this for the first time yesterday and I love it so much! I wasn't sure about it at first but then it really started to grow on me. The lipstick itself is a really deep red shade (the picture makes it look darker but I promise it's not as dark as that haha) I just love it and I think it'll be perfect for autumn!

I got this from Superdrug and it was £5.49.

5. Zoella Beauty Foam Sweet Foam Cleansing Shower Gel

I have been wanting something from Zoe's new range since it came out and my mum actually bought this for me last week (thank you mum!) I love this scent so much, it smells really lovely and sweet and I just love how soft it feels on my skin. I'm so proud of Zoe, it felt so surreal to see even more of her products stocked up in Superdrug and everything looked amazing!

I also got this from Superdrug and I think it was around the £3 mark.

6. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I got this a few weeks ago but I decided to include it anyway. I haven't actually read this yet but it sounds really good and I've heard good things about it so I'm excited to read this!

I got this from Amazon and it was £3.85.

7. A Work In Progress by Connor Franta

I haven't read this yet either but it looks so good! I love the front cover so much and I'm really proud of Connor. I'm really excited to read this!

I also got this from Amazon and it was £3.85.

So that's everything I've got to show you for this haul! At some point next week there could also potentially be a stationary haul (once I've actually ordered the bits haha) so keep your eyes peeled for that. Have you got any of these things I've mentioned? If so do you like them? Leave a comment down below if you want to. Thank you for reading!

June Favourites

Hi!

I didn't post last week (if anyone actually noticed) because I've been feeling really stressed out recently and yeah. Anyway, I thought I'd do a June Favourite's post because I've never actually done a montly favourites and I've been loving a few things this month, so I thought I'd share them with you.

Beauty

My first favourite is this nail varnish. It's from Avon and I can't remember what exact shade it is in, but it's a gorgeous mint green colour and I really love it.

My next favourite is the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. It gives a lot of length and volume and really seperates my lashes. I got it in Superdrug and they were doing a deal, I think it was 2 for £10 so my mum and I both got one. I think it's the perfect every day mascara and I would definitely recommend it.

Books, TV shows and Music

My book favourite is 'Looking For Alaska' by John Green. I've read this book before but I recently re read it and I forgot how much I loved it. It's about a guy called Miles and he's bored of his life at home, so he decides to go to a boarding school in Alabama to 'seek his Great Perhaps'. There he meets Alaska and his whole world is turned around. Also, fun fact (not sure it's actually fun but whatever), the book is split in two parts: before and after, so that's cool too.

My next favourite is Orphan Black. I started it on Friday and I finished season 1 on Sunday and OH MY GOD. I have no words. It is literally amazing and if you're looking for a new TV show to watch, then Orphan Black is it. SERIOUSLY GO AND WATCH IT!

My music favourite this month is the album 'Like I Used To' by Lucy Rose. I recently re discovered this and fell in love with it all over again. It is a very acoustic type album and I always like to have it on in the background. If you like this type of music, then I would definitely recommend this.

Random

My final favourite this month is this candle. It's in the scent vanilla and it's from Wilkinsons. It literally smells amazing and I love it so much. I think it was either £1 or £2, so it's also very cheap!

So that's all my favourites for this month. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments what you've been loving this month. Thank you for reading!

Things I Want To Do This Summer

Hi!

So, I was reading Tanya Burr's blog and she did a post like this last month and today is a really lovely day and it's really starting to feel like Summer, so I thought why not do a blog post on the things I want to do this Summer? Wow, that sentence was really long.

Go for a walk in the mornings when it's nice. I think that taking a walk in the mornings would really start my day off and just be a good way to clear my mind before the rest of my day begins.

Read more books. Like I said in my last post, I really love reading but I find that I don't make enough time for it. So this summer I'm going to make time to read, even if it's only for ten minutes before I go to sleep.

Go outside more. I'm always inside on my laptop and phone and I really do need to be outside more. Even if it's just for walks, or a picnic with my family, it'll still get me outside instead of sitting in bed on Twitter, Netflix and YouTube all day. (oops haha)

Make a summer scrapbook. I think this would be a really fun thing to do since it could be like your little summer memory book. It would also be cool to look back on at the end of the summer or even at the end of the year and see what you were up to.

Take more pictures. Pictures are moments in time that have been frozen, preserved forever. You will never get the same moment again. The pictures that we take are our memories and they allow us to go back and experience the feelings we once had when we captured them split seconds in time, good or bad. I just think it's really important that you take a lot of pictures and I will definitely be doing that this summer. (wow, that got really deep)

So those are my plans so far. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know what you want to do this Summer in the comments down below. Thank you for reading!

Shannon
